![]() Worth noting that there’s no directly continued storyline between any games, so while there are small connections, there’s no reason you couldn’t dart between entries out of order you’d still understand everything going on. There’s a new one planned for Switch, but it’s in development hell, and was basically repurposed to be a different game, so they’re seemingly starting from scratch. Likely still worth giving a shot once you’ve done with the other ones though and want more. I haven’t played the fan translations of Joker 3 or the remakes of the first 2 (all 3DS), but modern Monsters games have streamlined things into a format that I don’t like as much as the original GBC titles. A really weird one tried to combine regular DQ with Monsters, didn’t really work out that well, is a novelty but entirely skippable.ĭQM: Joker (DS) - Decent story, but I found it more imbalanced, less charm than the originals.ĭQM: Joker 2 (DS) - Refined the mechanics of Joker really well, so if you’re looking for those above all else, this is a good entry to play. You can probably autoplay the slime game for half an hour and get a few. ![]() ![]() No monsters are exclusive to any one version, they just affect you playing as male/female and what monsters you’ll find in each world.ĭQM: Caravan Heart (GBA) - Has a fan translation. Like a real casino, in Dragon Quest, Seconding the slots. Extremely deep and lengthy with randomised worlds, good story, brilliant mechanics. DWM (GBC) - Good foundation, you’ll find it recommended and mentioned more as it was played by more people, but it’s basically a tech demo in comparison to the second.ĭWM2 (GBC) - Still my favourite of the bunch. ![]()
